Tor Tuesday: Anna Dressed In Blood Contest

Hi all! I've decided to start something new today.  I'm calling it Tor Tuesday.  It's something that's been simmering in my brain and I finally decided to go for it.  Once a month or so (maybe more depending one when I feel like it :P) I'm going to feature a Tor book I've read and loved (YA or otherwise).  Sometimes there'll be contests--like today--other times author interviews, book spotlights, etc, depending on what I decide to cook up.

Since today is the release day for Kendare Blake's ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD, I'm giving away a copy to one commenter.  All you have to do is comment below and tell me what you're most afraid of (if you can't see the comment box, click on the post title and it'll bring you to the post by itself.  You SHOULD be able to see it then.  If you're STILL having problems, email me and I'll add you manually to the list).

The contest will be open until NEXT Tuesday (Sept 5th at midnight), and the winner will be announced that morning around 10am.

ANNA will be purchased through the book depository, so if they ship to your country you may enter.

To win you must be a blog follower and if you're under 18, you'll need to have parental permission to give me your mailing address.  Also, when I announce, you'll have 48 hours to email me before I find another winner, so make sure to check back next Tuesday.

Here's some information about ANNA from Kendare's website if you don't already know it.

Anna Dressed in Blood

Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story...

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

Kendare's Bio from her website

Kendare Blake is an import from South Korea who was raised in the United States by caucasian parents. You know, that old chestnut. She received a Bachelor's degree in Business from Ithaca College and a Master's degree in Writing from Middlesex University in London. She brakes for animals, the largest of which was a deer, which sadly didn't make it, and the smallest of which was a mouse, which did, but it took forever. Amongst her likes are Greek Mythology, rare red meat and veganism. She also enjoys girls who can think with the boys like Ayn Rand, and boys who scare the morality into people, like Bret Easton Ellis.

Love this book!! Okay, what most freaks me out is quite lame, but it's the honest truth--Spiders. I don't mind snakes or other bugs or big ars lions and such. But those creepy, crawling things have too many damn legs. Ugh.....

I hate spiders. Hate, hate, hate them. I also hate what could be lurking in the shadows. I REFUSE to go outside at night unless I have to.

This book sounds perfect! My worst fears are empty, long hallway, spiders, and throwing up.

Let's see, what I'm most afraid of... Someone close to me dying.

I must be weird because I'm so afraid of dying in a car crash. I have no idea why. I can drive without problem, but sometimes I get all panicked if I'm driving in a really narrow place. Also, I freak out when I have to go down steep stairs. And I'm so deathly afraid of being locked in a small confined space.

Thanks so much for this giveaway!

Hmm, I am afraid of so many things. Like spiders. But mostly I'm afraid of being hurt, by someone. Also very afraid of people touching my stuff (A) I like to have my things all to myself. Hih :D

Kurents. They creep the hell out of me! They are so intruding, tall, loud and scary looking + I HATE it when I don't know who's behind the mask! It could be anyone and this really frightens me.

What are Kurents? In our country we don't celebrate Halloween, but we do have something called Pust. It's a Slovenian version of Mardi Gras and Kurents are like the central figures of this celebration. They are dressed in sheepskins with cowbells dangling from their belts or chains. On their heads they wear huge furry caps decorated with feathers, sticks or horns and coloured streamers. The leather face masks have eye-holes outlined in red, long trunk-like noses and enormous red tongues that hang down to the chest. They wear hair made from horse-tails.

Here, some visual proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6MsaQFLY6Q
You understand, now, why they creep me out, right? :)

I'm afraid of whales! I know that the possibility of encountering one is zero but still, I get goose bumps just watching them on the TV they are HUGE and scary.

Thanks for the giveaway, fingers crossed! :)
I love the sound of this book! And what a cover. What am I afraid of? Heights, weird bugs, guys chasing after me with knives, getting lost in the jungle. Done all that. But failure and rejection. That's what scares me.
